Here's the recap of how my mini-marathon training has been going:
Okay, about 6 months ago, I got a hair-brained idea that I could run a half marathon (13.1 miles). I have many online friends that run. And with thier encouragement I signed up to do the Indy-Mini on May 3rd. I knew I could never really run it but I thought between running and walking I'd finish with a respectible time. I started training in February and did great. Then at the first of March I was sidelined with sciatic pain. With muscle relaxers, stretches and electric stimulation I was walking upright again after two weeks and in time to go on vacation. Basically, the month of March was a wash. So, the month of April has been a whorl-wind of training. Now, my goal is just to finish. There is a 4 hour cut off. At this point, I'm walking 6 miles in 1 hour, 50 minutes and I can run two miles in 31 minutes. So, I think I can make it if my back holds out. So, everybody keep me in your thoughts, prayers and well wishes. (I'm going to need it!)
