I had my first fill today and went to a support meeting.
First the fill - well,.........it was a tad bit uncomfortable. Not horrendous but not a piece of cake the way others have described it. The needle was bigger and longer than what I was expecting. It didn't hurt so much going in but coming out felt like my insides where being sucked out. (slight exaggeration!) I laid down for the poking part then sat up with the needle still in to swallow some water. I swallowed easily till I got to 1.5 cc's. Then I started burping and could feel a little pooling in the back of my throat. So, he backed it down to 1 cc. It didn't even take 10 minutes all together.
My fill was at 11:50 and the support group didn't start till 4 in a town that is 60 minutes from home so I decided to take the day off and Christmas shop. Because I was away from home and my fill was right before lunch I stopped at Steak and Shake and got a yogurt smoothie. It actually lasted 3 hours as I was coming in and out of stores Christmas shopping.
I wasn't hungry tonight but seeing as my calories weren't very high, I ate about 1/3 cup of mashed potatoes tonight. I thought if I didn't I'd wake up in the middle of the night hungry.
Nutrition will be better tomorrow while I continue on some soft foods. Today was a fluke because I was rushing around with my fill, x-mas shopping, support meeting and a hair cut this evening.
Forgot to say the support meeting was great. Jean, our leader, is phenomenal. She had gastric bypass herself but is very educated in the band protocol. She is also hilarious. She genuinely cares about her patients.
I'll report more later on yhow this fill is going.

It seems all doctors are different in how they do fills. My doctor uses lidocain first to numb the area so you don't feel a thing. I had a fill once with the other doctor in his office. He didn't do the lidocain first and had me sit in a crunch position while doing the fill. We were also told liquids only the first day, pureed the 2nd day, then mushies. It should take 2-3 days to get back on solids. And not sure if you know this, but a lot of bandsters are tighter in the morning. Hopefully the fill works for you!
